A-level Performance Data

Please use this link to access the Government's Performance Data website.

In 2023, 103 candidates sat 3 or 4 A-levels at NGHS. 72% of A-levels were graded A*-B which was the highest result in the region.

The average grade was B+ with an academic points score of 41.25. Given the high starting points of students in our Sixth Form (their high GCSE results) their results are very pleasing. Progress is not judged this year owing to the absence of GCSE examinations for this cohort in 2021.

In 2023, 20% of A-level grades were A* (double that of 2019 when students last sat similar-style examinations) and 72% were graded A*-B. 100% of students have attained the national required standard (Grade 4) in Maths and English.

Students who remained at NGHS from Year 11, and those who had Free School Meals all achieved particularly positive L3VA scores.

Retention rate in sixth form in 2022 = 99%. 100% of students left NGHS to move onto higher education, training or employment. Our Sixth Form Prospectus includes details of destinations and course types.

Particular highlights from our 2023 A-level results include:

  • Two thirds of Art Grades were A*
  • A quarter of Biology students achieved an A* (a huge rise from 2019)
  • In Further Maths, Music and Computing 100% A*-B was obtained
  • In Politics, 83% of students achieved A*-B and 100% A*-C
  • Every Physics student achieved A*-C with a third achieving A*
  • 90% of English and Psychology students attained A*-C
