NGHS is one of the country’s leading girls’ grammar schools.

We welcome girls from the town of Newport as well as further afield from Telford, Stafford, Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton.

With a clear emphasis on success both inside and outside the classroom, our students achieve highly and make the most of opportunities to see the world and make life-lasting friendships. Visitors are assured a warm welcome and we hope that our website gives you a flavour of our ethos and success.

A Section 8 Ofsted inspection (October 2019) confirmed that NGHS continues to be recognised as an outstanding school. We are also delighted to be the Parent Power Sunday Times Secondary School of the West Midlands.

In 2021, NGHS was named as one of the DFE's Flexible Working Ambassador Schools (FWAS) and more information can be found in this section of our website.
