Seniors Netball Weekend

3 October 2023

Netball team

Our Senior Netballers enjoyed a weekend competing against other schools at Condover Hall. Lucy L, Netball Captain, shares her thoughts on an enjoyable weekend.

We arrived at Condover on Friday afternoon and had a few hours to settle in, trade pillows, get our dresses, and create a snack bed(?) before dinner. Dinner was probably the most exciting part of our evening because after this we relaxed and started to prepare for our games tomorrow.

We had our matches on Saturday afternoon and Mrs Martin and Mrs Goodall had informed us the rain was to start around the same time as our first match and finish at approximately the end of them. Brilliant.

We played some ace teams, and got into the swing of things, winning all 7 matches in landslide victories, propelling us into first place in our pool. Not only did we win all of our games, but we also gained a goal difference of 51 goals, one that second place came nowhere near with a mere 31 goals.

That evening there was a huge selection of activities to choose from, from campfire to a laser maze but, it was the silent disco that won overall.

After we had cooled down from the most strenuous part of the trip, Newport Ninjas (1) found out we were going to be in the Cup playoffs on Sunday morning. With that prospect in mind we headed to bed.

Our first game on Sunday was our first loss, but we took that and used it to push us further, ending the playoffs with only one game lost out of four.  Even though we didn’t win the tournament we were a standout team with a game that was recognised by the umpires as “lovely”. As this weekend was our first time playing as a team ever, I have high hopes for the rest of the season and cannot wait to see what this year has in store for us!
