House Competitions are underway!

17 October 2022

Form Noticeboard Competition

The first house competition of this year was the Form Notice Board competition and it was really nice to see everyone getting involved and having fun. This year’s theme was ‘boards that make you go wow’ and 6S2’s board certainly made the judges say wow! Well done to Mrs Gill and her form for winning the overall competition – the board features a hand-painted octopus and a ship coming out of the board!

The individual year group winners were S3, 9Rod, 10Aus, 11Rod and 6S3, so each house had success. Popular themes this year were Minions, Cars, the Muppets and even Asda Donnington! This was an amazing start to the academic year, with every student able and willing help decorate the school!

House Bake Off

Last week students of all year groups were tasked with the challenge of House Bake off. The competition was made up of 4 categories: famous faces, super savouries, 5 ingredient challenge, and typically British biscuits. A busy Thursday evening in the kitchen led to a flurry of activity in the Centenary Hall on Friday morning, with an abundance of cakes, pastries and other baked goods.

The judges definitely had a tough task to decide a winner. But after tasting each of the 27 entries, overall it was Sophia N from year 13 who took home Star Baker awards with her five ingredient macaroons (below), helping lead Roddam to victory! Congratulations to all those that took part, hope to see some of you practising your bakes for next year.

Next stop, House Music!
