Mr M J Scott
Headteacher
Mr Michael Scott was appointed to NGHS in July 2017 following eight successful years on the senior leadership team of two other girls' grammar schools. A graduate in German and Music, Mr Scott has taught for almost twenty years in four outstanding schools as well as at the renowned Schloss Hagerhof Music Academy in Germany.
As Headteacher, Mr Scott is responsible for all that happens at NGHS and leads a family of over 600 students and 50 staff. His vision is to ensure academic and co-curricular success (in and outside the classroom) through high-quality teaching, outstanding results and, above all, exceptional pastoral care.
Outside of school (in what little time remains!) Mr Scott is a keen musician and has directed music for over fifty productions and numerous concerts.
Miss S Webster
Deputy Headteacher
Miss Sophie Webster joins NGHS in September 2021 after a long tenure at a large multi-academy trust in Birmingham where she held a number of roles culminating in the post of Assistant Headteacher. At NGHS, Miss Webster's main role will be to oversee the pastoral care of students in Years 11-13 as well as leading the development of Teaching & Learning post Covid19 with Mr Postle and ensuring students in all years have plenty of opportunities for Personal Development.
As a teacher of Geography and PSHE, Miss Webster looks forward to getting to know all our students in and outside the classroom. She is also an examiner for Geography with OCR and enjoys travelling and yoga.
Mrs H R Birch
Assistant Headteacher
Mrs Hayley Birch is our Designated Safeguarding Lead across the whole school and oversees the pastoral care of students in Years 7-10. Mrs Birch is also in charge of PSHE, a subject which is considered vital at NGHS. An enthusiastic teacher of PE, Mrs Birch juggles her SLT responsibilities with fixtures, training and matches. She is also responsible for school reports and line manages a number of our Heads of Year.
Miss A-M Davies
Associate Assistant Head
Miss Ann-Marie Davies is one of the school's longest serving colleagues and joined SLT officially in 2018. She leads on the progress of students for whom the school receives additional funding as well as the 'curriculum intent', where she leads and supports Heads of Faculty to communicate the vision and content of the curriculum in their individual subject areas. A keen historian, Ann-Marie teaches History throughout the school and specialises in the Early Modern Period at A-level. Ms Davies has recently taken over responsibility for the school's IT Strategy and works closely with the Network Manager to ensure the school continues to embrace new technologies.
Mrs K Jones
Operations Manager
Having joined NGHS from the Civil Service about 10 years ago, Mrs Kathy Jones has held a number of responsibilities, culminating in her appointment to SLT in 2020. Her keen interest in Data, Health & Safety and her eye for detail mean she is well-placed to manage day-to-day operations in school as well as ensuring important H&S documentation is up to date. Mrs Jones is our Educational Visits Coordinator, is responsible for School Admissions and liaises regularly with prospective parents and the local authority. She also coordinates our Entrance Test and coordinates our dedicated team of Support Staff.
Mr D Postle
Associate Senior Leader
Mr Daniel Postle is Faculty Leader for English & Arts at NGHS. A dedicated and passionate English teacher, Mr Postle thoroughly enjoys teaching his subject from Year 7 to A-level. Previous leadership experience has been as SENDCO, Head of English & Literacy and latterly Head of Arts, too. In his Associate Senior Leader role, Mr Postle has been tasked with leading staff in a 'rebirth' of Teaching & Learning post Covid-19 and he is looking forward to working with Miss Webster, our new Deputy Head from September, in facilitating this with colleagues.
Mr O Pointon
Associate Senior Leader
Mr Oliver Pointon joined NGHS in September 2018 as Teacher of Psychology and RE. In 2020, he was appointed to the new role of Sixth Form Achievement Coordinator, where he supports groups of students to improve their attainment and progress in Years 12-13. This role has widened as a result of our Sixth Form expansion and Mr Pointon's keen eye for data has earned him the role of Associate Senior Leader for 2021-22. In this role, he will focus on the use of data to inform teaching and learning and the leadership of our House system.
