We are delighted that you are considering joining our outstanding school community. This is an exciting opportunity to teach Science, particularly Chemistry, in one of the country’s top‑performing grammar schools, starting in September 2026 (or earlier by negotiation). The vacancy has arisen due to the continued growth of the school, and we are seeking a passionate and committed Chemistry specialist to inspire our students and contribute to our thriving Science department.
At NGHS, Chemistry is a highly valued and popular subject, with excellent uptake at GCSE and A‑level. Our students are enthusiastic, intellectually curious and eager to be challenged. We are looking for a teacher who shares our commitment to academic excellence and who can instil a love of learning through practical, engaging and ambitious teaching. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or an Early Career Teacher, we strongly encourage you to apply, our school provides exceptional support, mentoring and professional development for ECTs.
Our trustee board is incredibly supportive and experienced. Their drive and ambition for the school keeps us on our toes, but they are passionate about enhancing opportunities for all students. We are heavily oversubscribed and hold an annual entrance test. We have, on average, 120 girls in each year group. The sixth form is also oversubscribed and we take students from a number of 11-16 and 11-18 high schools as well, of course, as our own Year 11s.
If you possess the necessary skills for this role, we encourage you to apply for the position. Please note CV’s will not be accepted. Please contact us if you need the application form in a different format.
If you require further information or to book a visit, please contact the Headteacher, Mr A Jones, via jobs@nghs.org.uk.
We urge applicants to apply as soon as possible as we may choose to close the advert early should we receive sufficient applications to shortlist for interview.
NGHS is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to the equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy/maternity, race, religion or belief. We particularly welcome applications from colleagues from under-represented backgrounds. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS, Barred List check and other recruitment checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education Safer Recruitment practices. This includes sourcing police checks for any period of time spent abroad.
