We were very sorry to hear of the passing of Miss Margaret Matripp, former Headteacher of Newport Girls’ High School.

Miss Mantripp had a long and significant association with NGHS, serving the school for 27 years, including more than a decade as Headteacher. During that time, she played an important part in the life and development of the school and will be remembered by generations of former students and colleagues.

Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with Miss Mantripp’s family and friends at this sad time.

A memorial service celebrating Miss Mantripp’s life will be held at Trinity Church, Newport, on Tuesday 17 November at 12 noon, followed by refreshments in the church hall.
