Students Meet Princess of Wales!

17 November 2025

NGHS Service Children Honoured to Meet the Princess of Wales at the Armistice Day Service.
Tuesday 11th November saw a group of twenty six students travel to the National Memorial Arboretum where they were thrilled to meet Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales whilst she attended the Armistice Day Service.
During a tour of the attraction's gallery, Kate met the pupils from military families and they chatted about the events of the day and they also presented her with a bouquet of flowers. They were invited after PE teacher and Head of Year 7, Danielle Martin, applied to visit the site earlier this term. Also in attendance and introducing the students to the princess was the Lord–Lieutenant of Staffordshire Mr Graham Morley.
Mrs Martin added: "When we applied to visit for the 11th November we never anticipated being invited to the Armistice Day service itself let alone meet the princess. All of the girls are from military families, whose parents have served or are serving."
Her daughter Paige, aged 13, added: "Kate spoke to about ten of us. I thought that was really important and a good opportunity. She was really nice. She asked us what we thought of the service. I said my favourite part was the poem Tears in the Sun because we could relate to it and it told the story of Afghanistan so that others who don't know about it could understand what it was like."
In the afternoon, all of the students had personalised tours of the Arboretum where they learned more about the history and importance of the site. A truly memorable day to be cherished for all involved.
