The students ay NGHS have been celebrating a double victory in the recent indoor cricket championships held at Telford College.
Both teams emerged victorious and performed brilliantly to win a place at the County finals being held at Wrekin College in March! Huge congratulations to the two teams and good luck at the next stage and you can read about both days below
U13’S WIN TELFORD AND WREKIN INDOOR CRICKET FINALS FOR THIRD YEAR RUNNING!In a repeat of the previous two years, the U13 Cricket ‘A’ Team won the Telford and Wrekin Indoor Cricket tournament by beating Bridgnorth Endowed in the final having gone undefeated throughout the competition!
Additionally, a very impressive ‘B’ team comprised of mostly year sevens were only 1 run away from joining them in the final when they agonisingly lost their semi final on the very last ball!
In another impressive display of batting, bowling and fielding, NGHS again did themselves proud. The individual highlight of the day was undoubtedly Y8 student, Hargun D, getting a ‘hat-trick’ of three wickets in row during the final to put Newport well and truly in the driving seat!
A massive well done to all involved, especially all of the new Year Seven players who acquitted themselves magnificently! It showed that the talent coming through will keep NGHS competitive for several years to come!

U15's WIN INDOOR CRICKET TITLE!
On Thursday 22nd January the U15 Cricket Team travelled to Telford College Sports Dome to compete in the Telford and Wrekin indoor
cricket finals.
cricket finals. The U15’s were on top of their game and were thrilled to progress through the tournament without losing a single match and winning the final by a comfortable margin!
Every single player represented the school superbly with many outstanding performances across the day. However, particular mention must go to Y10 student and team captain, Shaan K. Not only did she make great tactical decisions, but she also had a superb day by taking 5 wickets in one innings and leading the batting with some explosive and powerful hitting!
Well done once again, and like the U13’s who also won their regional tournament, they now progress to the county finals in March to be played at Wrekin College.
