Head Girl
From Year 7 I have truly loved being part of the NGHS family and its strong community. I currently study French, German and History at A-level and thoroughly enjoy all my subjects.
This is why I am incredibly excited to have the role as Head Girl. It is my remit to act as the link between staff and students, represent the student body and lead the Head Girl Team.
As Head Girl I will endeavour to help other students flourish and thrive. Effectively working with the rest of the team, I will provide support and a voice for students, aid seamless integration into our school family and encourage participation both within school life and in the wider community in a positive manner.
May I take this opportunity to encourage you to seize all the opportunities NGHS has to offer and I wish each of you success in your own personal journey through the school.

Transition & Integration
In September I joined Newport Girls Sixth Form to study biology, chemistry and geography at A level. Since joining, my education and confidence has flourished in the amazing atmosphere and environment here. I want to ensure every student has the chance to experience this and reach their full potential in this stage of their education and development. In my role as Deputy Head for Transition and Integration, I have the responsibility of integrating new year twelves into the sixth form and ensure everyone’s transition goes smoothly. I am really excited to work with the rest of the Head Girl Team to make a positive impact on the school community and promote the school to year eleven students in other settings.

Academic Chair
I am undoubtedly grateful to have been a part of the NGHS community since Year 7. The school has helped me to grow and prosper in its nurturing environment. Now, at A level, I am studying Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and am incredibly supported by my teachers in my education. As Deputy Head Girl with the responsibility of Academic Chair, it is especially important that the mentoring scheme is implemented with great success during this academic year. The mentoring scheme allows students across the school years to come together and motivate each other in their learning. If any students would like to be involved in this scheme, either as a mentor or a mentee, feel free to email me or talk to me anytime. Another key responsibility is to make sure Sixth Form students’ voices are heard through the Sixth Form Council, where Year 12s and 13s can bring forward any ideas they may have. I am extremely excited to collaborate with the other members of the Head Girl Team to contribute to the legacy of NGHS.

Health & Wellbeing
It has been a privilege to be an NGHS student since Year 7 and I currently study Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-level. As a member of the Head Girl Team with the responsibility of focusing on Health and Wellbeing my aim is to promote a positive working environment where we feel motivated and strive to achieve our personal goals. It is recognised that high levels of health and wellbeing are key to our individual success and have the potential to influence our quality of life and our ability to look after ourselves and each other. The pandemic has resulted in a challenging 2 years and wellbeing has never been so important to our lives. Within my role I will be chairing the school Health & Wellbeing Panel, liaising closely with staff and therefore, I would welcome any ideas or suggestions as I would like the opportunity to work with you on these important issues.

Participation & Inclusion
I was lucky enough to be offered a place at NGHS to take my three a levels, biology, chemistry, psychology, and so I joined Newport girls sixth form last year as a new student and have had a positive experience. It is a privilege to be part of the NGHS family. As a new student I have a greater sensitivity to including others within the school community, as I believe my other peers deserve to be welcomed into the school with kindness and respect and have the joy of settling in as well as I did. As a deputy in participation and inclusion I aim to encourage students to take part in school events and watch them grow in confidence. I'm thrilled to be able to work with the head girl team and watch the positive impact grow within the NGHS family.

Community & Careers
In primary school, I was absolutely certain that NGHS would be the right school for me- and it only took one visit to be able to confirm that the unique close-knit nature of the school was what would make it so special. Since my first year at NGHS, in Autumn of 2016, I have absolutely loved maths and the sciences, and six years later, I am taking 4 A-Levels: Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry. As Deputy Head Girl with responsibilities for the community and careers, I would love to maintain and promote our fully supportive ethos while developing NGHS’s links within the community. I am also looking forward to working closely with Mrs Gill and my sixth form peers, to ensure that everyone receives as much information and as many opportunities as possible to explore post sixth form possibilities, so that we can all leave NGHS in 2023 with as much knowledge as possible about our futures.
