Katy
Head Girl
It is a privilege to have been a part of the NGHS family from Year 7, and an even bigger privilege to represent the school as Head Girl. I am currently studying maths, further maths, physics and chemistry, and I am thoroughly enjoying all my subjects. My role as Head Girl is to act as the spokesperson between students and staff, to support school-run events with a focus on integrating more with the wider community and to aid a smooth integration of new students to the school. If I had one piece of advice, it would be to always take advantage of the opportunities that the school provide – it is never too late to start getting involved! I wish everyone a fun and rewarding time at Newport Girls!
Bella
Senior Deputy Head Girl
Hi, I’m Bella, and I am the Senior Deputy Head Girl. Since joining as a sixth form student in September 2022, I have loved being part of the NGHS family. As well as assisting our Head Girl Katy as a part of my role, I will be helping oversee the transition of students into both the main school and the sixth form, and strongly believe in the smoothness of this process. I have chosen to study English Literature, Psychology and History for my A levels, and have a true passion for each subject. Our collective aim as a team is to be as approachable and helpful as we possibly can be, so any worries you may have, please come and find us so we can help in any way we can!
Izzy
Deputy Head Girl (Participation & Inclusion)
Throughout my time here at NGHS, I have always considered it to be a privilege to attend such a focused and welcoming school, with it being an easy decision for me to continue on to the sixth form, and to pursue my A-level choices of English Literature, Psychology and Politics. It has been clear to me since the beginning of my time here at NGHS the emphasis placed upon participation within all aspects of school life, both in and out of the classroom, and therefore feel privileged to have been awarded the role of Deputy Head Girl for participation and inclusion. I hope to be able to only further the levels of participation within school, and ensuring that all members of the NGHS community are actively involved in the multitude of opportunities provided by school.

Deputy Head Girl (Transition/Integration)
I joined Newport Girls Sixth Form in September 2022 to study history, psychology and politics at A level. I found the school offered such a welcoming environment, so it was easy to fit in and become a member of the family here at NGHS. In my position as Deputy Head for Transition and Integration, I hope to make the transition for new students as smooth as possible when they join NGHS, ensuring that every new student feels comfortable and at ease within their new learning environment. I am very excited to work with the rest of the Head Girl Team to promote the school and make a positive impact on our school community.

Deputy Head Girl (Well-Being)
It has been a privilege to have joined the NGHS family in September to study History, Politics and Economics at A/Level and since then my enjoyment in studies and confidence has very much thriven. As a part of the Head Girl Team, specialising in Health and Wellbeing, I plan to embolden a positive and healthy environment where each and every member of the school feels comfortable and safe in the school environment. A clear focus on Health and Wellbeing is very much needed to enable an individual to successfully overcome difficulties and achieve their goals. Therefore, I look forward to working closely with the school’s Health and Wellbeing Panel, to ensure everyone is cared for and feels welcomed at NGHS. Along with the rest of the Head Girl Team, I hope to have a very positive impact and a successful year.
Swara
Deputy Head Girl (Academic Chair)
I’ve been a part of the NGHS community since year 7, and have absolutely loved all the years I’ve spent within this nurturing environment. I’m currently studying English Literature, History and Politics at A-level, and I greatly enjoy all my subjects. My role as Academic Chair involves ensuring the mentoring scheme runs smoothly throughout the year. This programme allows students across school years to support each other in their education and is one of the many opportunities we have at NGHS to get involved in school life. If you want to be involved in this programme, please feel free to email or talk to me any time. I’m also responsible for managing Sixth Form Council, where year 12s and 13s can share any ideas or concerns they have regarding sixth form life. I would welcome all thoughts and suggestions as I look forward to working to leave a positive impact on the school.
Braeagh
Deputy Head Girl (Community & Careers)
Hi, I'm Braeagh, and I'm the deputy head girl for careers and community. I take English Literature, History and chemistry. I would love to see more integration amongst all year groups and ensure that everyone feels comfortable to reach out to the Head Girl Team with any concerns or requests they may have. I have been here since year 7 and chose to stay for sixth form because of close relationships between students and teachers and academic support offered. I’m really looking forward to having an active role of responsibility within NGHS, to try and maintain the environment of which I am so happy to be a part.
