Oversubscription criteria

Our aim is to satisfy as great a number of students as possible with their option requests. The timetable is constructed around student requests. However, class sizes need to be appropriate for each subject and within the cost of the school curriculum. If a subject is slightly over the maximum number, an additional class may not be possible and therefore a computer program is used to best fit students across all subjects, taking their reserve subject into account. The allocation does NOT take into account an individual’s performance in a subject or teacher preference else this would be grossly unfair. It is therefore crucial that each student’s most preferred language, humanity & practical subject are presented in the boxes to the left and not the boxes above. Any late forms will be considered after the first allocation is made.
