NGHS is one of the country’s leading girls’ schools.

We welcome girls from the town of Newport as well as further afield from Telford, Stafford, Shrewsbury, Market Drayton and Wolverhampton.

With a clear emphasis on success both inside and outside the classroom, our students achieve highly and make the most of opportunities to see the world and make life-lasting friendships. Visitors are assured a warm welcome and we hope that our website gives you a flavour of our ethos and success.

Students achieve phenomenal results at NGHS. In August 2022, we were ranked 18th in the country by The Times. In 2023, GCSE students achieved, on average, 0.8 of a grade of progress more than expected across every subject.  At A-level over 70% of grades were A*-B. Owing to impressive, sustained year-on-year results, NGHS was given the title of Parent Power Sunday Times Secondary School of the West Midlands in 2020.

In 2021, NGHS was named as one of the DFE's Flexible Working Ambassador Schools (FWAS) and has supported a number of Trusts and schools across the region in developing their flexible working practice.

In November 2022, NGHS was graded outstanding in every category of the Ofsted inspection framework. More information can be found below.

Outstanding Ofsted!

Ofsted visited NGHS in November 2022 to conduct a full, graded inspection. We were delighted when the inspection team concluded that NGHS is an outstanding school in every judgement. You can view the report here.

This was a view shared by Ofsted in 2019 when the school underwent a monitoring visit to consider the school's curriculum, a key feature of the inspection framework.

NGHS students, staff and governors are very proud of our outstanding school.
